Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a detail-oriented student to support Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control activities within the Quality Assurance (QA) team. This role focuses on maintaining and improving ESD compliance across labs and work areas, supporting audits, verifying ESD-safe equipment, and assisting with documentation and tracking of ESD-related processes.
Responsibilities include assisting with ESD audits and inspections, verifying proper grounding and calibration of ESD equipment (e.g., wrist straps, mats, ionizers), maintaining accurate ESD records and logs, supporting training and awareness efforts, and helping ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled at Utah State University with a minimum of one year remaining in school
- Ability to work 15-20 hours per week (between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM) during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Basic problem-solving skills and willingness to learn technical processes
- Must be comfortable working in lab or controlled environments
- Computer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree related to business, management information systems, technical writing, or a related field
- Interest in hardware, manufacturing, or lab-based work
- Familiarity with ESD principles, electronics handling, or quality systems
- Previous experience in a lab, manufacturing, or technical environment
- Strong documentation and data entry skills
