About the Opportunity: Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) is seeking aSystems & Discovery LibrarianIIto join our new Library Systems & Discovery team. This position will support our mission by ensuring that library systems and integrations work seamlessly for the people who use them:
Supporting library staff by implementing stable, efficient workflows and rolling out product features and enhancements that improve the experience of library work Supporting patrons by making it easy to register for library cards, discover materials, manage accounts, and access library integrated services online.
As part of the Library Systems & Discovery team, the Systems & Discovery Librarian complements existing cataloging, metadata, andacquisitionsexpertiseon the team. This position will bring a strong focus to patron workflows such as accounts and registration, circulation &holds, catalog usability, and staff support at the point of service. This position will serve as a subject matter expert on WCCLS's integrated library system (ILS),Polaris, and discovery layer,BiblioCore, while also supportingnumerousother integrations, including online resources,ebookapplications, streaming video, automated messaging, and data clean-up services. With an emphasis on patron experience, access, and usability, this role focuses on how system behavior and stabilityaffectsreal people and public service outcomes for the whole community. The Library Cooperative and Upcoming Projects This is a new position for WCCLS and comes out of amulti-year funding and governance evaluation processthat our cooperative library system has undertaken. The cooperative system is a partnership between the county, 9citiesand 3 nonprofit associations. Our 12 partnersoperate16 library locations, and historically have managed their physical collections locally, while WCCLS provided centralized digital collections. The partners have agreed to centralize collection management and technical services across print and digital by July 2027, to support the long-term fiscal sustainability of the system.Learn more about this transition and see local collection statistics. The Systems & Discovery Librarian will be joining a new team dedicated to building capacity and resiliency for the ILS and systems support as our organization, operations, and services grow. They will work collaboratively with other teams at WCCLS (including Collections and Technical Services, IT, Community Relations) and at our libraries, supporting internal operations, library staff workflows, and access to library services. Upcoming projects include:
Supporting the cooperative's transition from distributed to centralized collection management & technical services Implementing new ILS features and configuration Implementing new circulation policy requirements for the ILS and other services Participating in the evaluation and improvement of library card types Supporting account and data clean-up processes Assist with annual process to register thousands of Washington County students for library cards

AboutWashington County Cooperative Library Services WCCLS is the primary funding source for public libraries in Washington County and provides the essential infrastructure that links independently operated library buildings together into one system that is accessible to all county residents. This includes library collections, technology access, the integrated library system and discovery layer, materials movement, and administering the cooperative library system, including policies, contracts, dataanalysisand reporting.
