Job Description

Summary: Interleaver/Checkweigher Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to the Pro Pac Inc Checkweigher. Provides day-to-day assistance to Supervisor/Management in meeting production and quality requirements. Responsible for understanding Daily's GMP's and safety policies. Additionally, may rotate job stations within the Precook department.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Setup, operate, maintain, and or breakdown the Checkweigher and/or Interleaver as assigned.
  • Adjust target weights as needed
  • Owns center lining process for assigned equipment
  • Report Weight accuracy and weight Deviations immediately to Lead and/or supervisor
  • Report problems to lead and/or supervisor
  • Follows reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and reports problems to supervisor
  • May rotate job stations and must maintain proficiency within Precook Packaging department
  • May be required to assist in other areas based on business need
  • Understand bacon specification requirements to ensure quality
  • Work at a pace consistent with line speeds and reasonable expectations
  • Keep accurate records as needed
  • Minimize scrap at all times
  • Follow procedures outlined by Department Supervisor/Department Lead
  • Follow Daily's attendance and punctuality rules
  • Follow Daily's Good Manufacturing Processes
  • Follow Daily's Safety guidelines as outlined in Safety Handbook
  • Performs other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Daily's business objectives


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • Must consistently follow company rules and procedures and ensure consistency with product specifications
  • Able to adhere to specifications
  • Must have superior attendance record


LANGUAGE SKILLS:



  • Ability to speak, read, and write basic English to interact with equipment screens, complete reports, and communicate via radio as needed.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:



  • Basic math skills including ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Capability of working with and calculating percentages


REASONING ABILITY:



  • Understanding of production and plant processes
  • Ability to use independent judgment to make sound decisions


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Performs a variety of tasks that require manual material handling and the use of hand tools, knives, hooks, machinery, and equipment
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least up to 40 pounds consistently
  • Standing and walking for up to 10 hours a day on concrete and wet surfaces
  • Visual abilities required for this job include close and distance vision
  • Must be able to wear all assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) for the position while working


WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Temperature variations - average of 40 degrees in raw food areas. Exposure to noise above 85 dbl (hearing protection required).



WORK SCHEDULE:



  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled.
