Description

Skyworks Standardization and RF System team seeks engineers with experience in 3GPP wireless system design, LTE and NR standards and Tx simulation and measurements to grow our RAN4 team. You will develop simulation tools and measurement methods in order to evaluate the technical feasibility of proposed features. You will also contribute to Skyworks RAN4 submissions and review those from other companies.


You will collaborate with many teams, including multiple R&D, product, and regulatory groups. You will work in a fast paced, results oriented environment with a thought and market leader in industry, frequently interacting with many different engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Participate, within standardization team, to RAN4 3GPP NR and future 6G standardization international meetings as topic appropriate (up to 6 per year)
  • Follow RAN plenaries and when necessary, participate face to face, follow the relevant work items
  • Directly contribute to strategic work items impacting RFFE and leverage partnerships with operators and other 3GPP members in the contribution of technical materials to influence the direction to the optimum implementation and best fit of Skyworks technology
  • In coordination with standardization leader and the RF system team, participate and drive Skyworks Solutions, Inc. interests in:

    • Relevant 3GPP meetings, IWPC meetings (4 to 6 /year), Participate ETSI meetings as it is feasible
    • Coordinate/Drive with supporting systems, design, marketing, applications to pull in technical material
    • Aligning with key customers




  • Address key operators on their specific needs in terms of spectrum use, band combinations and CA combination. Perform coexistence analysis (MSD) and analyze emerging features
  • Recognized Subject Matter Expert and transfer key learnings with business divisions by reporting key work items in a regular internal quarterly meeting to cover 3GPP, operator demands, emerging requirements and strategic positioning
  • Support System teams with updates on new standards, features, bands, and band combinations relevant to the RFFE specification and technology
  • Answer timely to the teams' inquiries related to customer questions, RFIs or product issues

Required Experience and Skills

  • A Master's degree and at least 4 years of wireless system engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience analyzing the following wireless standards: LTE, UMTS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Hands-on RF measurement experience and MATLAB RF path modelling
  • Experience in filter or MMIC design is considered a plus
  • Coursework completed in:

    • Stochastic processes
    • Electromagnetics (especially propagation and antenna theory)
    • Fourier analysis
    • Microwave circuit theory
    • Digital communications

  • Behavioral modeling for LTE/NR RF and Baseband systems
  • Co-existence management across multiple technologies
  • PA system design and efficiency enhancement techniques

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $143,000 - $286,400 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
