Overview

The associate is responsible for providing general support, while working under the guidance and mentorship of a Section Manager, on Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements related to project planning and implementation.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop proactive, customer-centric culture, foster trust and confidence among our internal customers in EHS, operations and engineering.
  • Provide general support to EH&S staff and engineering organizations during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work.
  • Provide support to EH&S staff and other organizations concerning EH&S project and programs rate case planning, accounting and appropriation, budgeting, scheduling, and milestone tracking.
  • Provide executive-level status reporting across portfolio.
  • Respond to operating department requests for assistance and support on EH&S issues.
  • Conduct periodic compliance inspections in support of the International Standard Organization 14001 Program.
  • Support Green House Gases source data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required while continuing to work under the guidance of a section manager.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of one year experience including cumulative work or equivalent internship/co-op experience OR six months of Con Edison co-op or internship experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must be highly motivated and committed to delivering excellence in the area of EH&S and recognize the critical importance of teamwork, required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, required.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), required.
  • Ability to handle multiple work assignments, changing priorities, and meeting deadlines, required.
  • Knowledge and experience in technical whitepaper drafting, capital and O&M work classification, appropriations and authorizations, budgets, schedules, and milestones, required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to read small print and symbols
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
