Content Editor (Contractor)

Department: Growth Marketing

Content Location: Remote but must be based in the United States

Duration: ~15 hours/week for 11 months

Focus Area: Hunting, Boating, Fishing Blog Content

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Content Editor Contractor to support our client's growing content program. This role will serve as the first line of editorial review for blog content produced by freelance contributors, ensuring all content meets standards for quality, accuracy, and brand voice.

The primary goal of this role is to maintain editorial excellence while enabling the internal team to focus on strategic planning and campaign execution. This contractor will also support a developing programmatic content approach, where speed to market and scalability are critical to capturing high-volume search opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and edit incoming blog content for:

    • Grammar, clarity, tone, and voice
    • Accuracy and authenticity (hunting, fishing, boating topics)
    • Brand consistency and formatting
    • Alignment with content briefs (keywords, structure, key points)


  • Perform light SEO optimization (headers, readability, keyword usage)
  • Provide clear, actionable editorial feedback to freelance writers
  • Identify and escalate major content gaps or factual inaccuracies
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all published content
  • Manage content intake and maintain timely turnaround of edits and revisions
  • Support early-stage programmatic content efforts focused on speed and volume



Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a content editor, copy editor, or content manager
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to editorial standards
  • Ability to quickly identify inconsistencies in terminology, tone, and accuracy
  • Working knowledge of SEO and content marketing fundamentals
  • Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Strapi, Publii)
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and collaboration tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills



Bonus Skills (Preferred):

  • Familiarity with hunting, boating, fishing, or outdoor recreation topics
  • Experience working with freelance contributor networks
  • Exposure to programmatic or high-volume content production workflows
  • Experience using tools such as ClickUp, NDash, Bynder, or similar platforms

The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $27-$28.50 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
