Primary Work Location Monument Health Rapid City Hospital Department RCH Anesthesia Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Job Summary Supervisor Anesthesia Services performs a wide range of duties including coordinating inventory of anesthesia specific medications and ordering of medical supplies and equipment. Supervises day-to-day operations in anesthetizing sites, managing and understanding departmental workflow to ensure timely completion of tasks and effective follow-through on requests. Works with guides and directs Anesthesia Technicians in all aspects of anesthesia supply inventory control, professional communication, anesthesia cart management, medication stock management, and utilization of medical supplies and movable anesthesia equipment within Monument Health. Maintains working knowledge of anesthesia processes according to JCAHO. Monitors operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement processes for improvements to maximize efficiency while minimizing quality issues and feedback. Promotes organizational and departmental goals and objectives in accordance with established policies and procedures. Complete employee timecards according to personnel policies. Onboarding and orientation of new Anesthesia Technicians. Develop and maintain Anesthesia Technician monthly schedules, vacation requests, and holiday rotations. Daily anesthesia technician assignments. Knowledgeable in JCAHO accreditation policies, procedures, and mandates related to anesthesia. Develop monthly cleaning rotations along with inspections to ensure JCAHO standards are followed in all anesthetizing locations. Complete performance appraisals according to personnel policies. Create an effective learning environment by promoting a positive and professional workplace. Supervises and coordinates day-to-day anesthesia technician operations in anesthetizing sites, ensuring workflow efficiency, task prioritization, and timely completion of assignments. Demonstrates strong professional communication with staff, leadership, and clinical partners to ensure clarity, accountability, and follow-through. Proficient in hospital policy and procedures in cleaning and high-level disinfection of anesthesia equipment. Consistently evaluates departmental procedures; acquire data for quality improvement initiatives; responds to and coordinates product recalls of medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. Monitors departmental processes and performance, actively identifying improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency while minimizing quality concerns and negative feedback. Coordinates monthly anesthesia technician specific meetings and in-services. Contributes and coordinates with the Anesthesia management team to facilitate daily departmental duties, functions, and procedures throughout Monument Health. Coordinates and implements in-services for anesthesia providers and technicians on new equipment and products when necessary. Coordinates and monitors anesthesia cart management to ensure accurate PARs, anesthesia machine maintenance, and out of OR anesthesia set up processes. All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required Education - High School Diploma/GED in General Studies Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable. Preferred Certification - Auto Transfusion (Cell Saver) Training Work Experience - 3+ years Anesthesia Monitoring Technician experience Scheduling Requirements: Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department. Physical Requirements: Medium work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently (34-66% of the time), and or up to 50 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
