Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.


Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • As the fabrication process specialist, this role provides guidance to the build plan including methods and techniques, sequence of steps, tool plans, layouts, etc.
  • Develop labor hour estimates as well as tooling and build concepts for internally fabricated items.
  • Apply principles and practices typically associated with quality and industrial manufacturing and coordinate with other support disciplines as required.
  • Coordinate with supply chain on make versus buy analysis to ensure most cost-effective solution for fabrication items taking into account equipment needs, capacity, and lead time requirements.
  • Develop work instruction travelers to identify process steps in the fabrication process and coordinate with engineering to include all part requirements.
  • Leads and participates in long-range technical research on proposed projects
  • Provides guidance to fabrication team in prioritization of work tasks.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and manufacturing support
  • High level of understanding in manufacturing of Sheet Metal assembly, composite repairs, and CNC machining.
  • MS office suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Active listener and willing to learn

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-based environment
  • Self-motivated; taking ownership of projects and issues, including follow through to closure
  • Understanding of fabrication and/or assembly build processes and sequencing
  • Experience in Continuous improvement and Manufacturing Support
  • Experience with SAP

Summary Pay Range - Entry Level (Level 1): $50,600 - $75,950
