JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Penn State Extension Dairy Team is seeking applicants for a part-time job of Organic Dairy Summer Intern.

Job duties to include:

  • Assist Dairy Educators in planning and coordinating six statewide organic dairy educational events, including workshops and pasture walks.
  • Help secure host farm locations and coordinate event logistics.
  • Create and manage Cvent event registration pages.
  • Collaborate with the Penn State Extension marketing team to develop promotional materials (flyers, postcards, and social media content).
  • Draft and schedule social media posts promoting organic dairy events.
  • Compile post-event evaluations using Qualtrics and summarize participant feedback.
  • Lead the documentation and analysis of key insights gathered from each regional event.
  • Compile findings into a final written report to guide future organic dairy programming and identify producer needs.
  • Collaborate with Educators to write publications, articles or fact sheets.
  • As time allows, assist Dairy Educators with on-farm activities such as feed and forage assessments, milking system evaluations, and financial analyses. Review farm records, including forage analyses and herd production data. Help draft post-evaluation reports and summaries for dairy farmers

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

College student majoring in dairy science or animal science. Candidate must have a strong interest or background in organic dairy production, organic practices and regenerative agriculture.

Schedule: 30 hours/week short term. Hours may vary depending on the workshop schedule. Hours not to exceed 30 hours/week. Approximate start date of May 25, 2026 through August 14, 2026.

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $17.50/hour.
