Description and Requirements

This internship sits within the global ISG Storage product management team and focuses on analyzing product and sales history to understand what we sell, where we sell it, and how those patterns are changing. The intern will translate historical trends into insights that inform future product requirements and help shape portfolio positioning. Ideal candidates are undergraduate students with strong analytical skills, curiosity about technology products, and an interest in how data drives product strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Product & Sales Analysis

  • Analyze historical sales, product mix, and geographic performance to identify trends and shifts in customer buying behavior.
  • Build dashboards, visualizations, and reports to clearly communicate insights to product managers and leaders.
  • Evaluate product performance across segments, regions, and customer types to support strategic planning.

Market & Portfolio Insights

  • Support competitive assessments by reviewing market data, competitor offerings, and technology trends.
  • Identify opportunities and gaps in the current portfolio based on product performance and market direction.
  • Provide recommendations that help shape future product requirements and enhancements.

Product Management Support

  • Assist the product management team with product lifecycle activities, including portfolio health reviews, pricing analysis, and forecasting.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions with engineering, marketing, and sales to refine product direction.
  • Support preparation of executive summaries, product strategy documents, and business cases.

Operational & Organizational Tasks

  • Maintain organized datasets, documentation, and reference materials used by the product management team.
  • Help streamline and improve internal processes related to reporting, data tracking, and product updates.
  • Contribute to team meetings, planning sessions, and strategy reviews with clear data-driven insights.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Data Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and visualize data.
  • Curiosity about technology products, especially in the storage, infrastructure, or hardware space.
  • Interest in how data informs product strategy and decision-making.
  • Comfort working with large datasets and conducting trend analyses.
  • Ability to clearly communicate findings in simple, concise terms.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with product management concepts or coursework.
  • Understanding of basic business metrics such as revenue, units, margins, or segmentation.
