Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for meeting production deadlines and managing the coatings, fabrication, maintenance, and shipping/receiving functions. This position has the authority to place purchase requisitions as needed for the day-to-day operation of the plant. This position will assist Plant Manager with performance evaluations, wage increase recommendations and appropriate disciplinary actions. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and direction of personnel in Machining


  • Follow work schedules by department from the Master Production Schedules to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Ensure paint line quality by monitoring paint formulations, overseeing application, trouble-shooting malfunctions and quality issues. Ensure equipment is maintained properly.
  • Make suggestions to Plant Manager as to manpower requirements to maximize throughput of product, while at the same time keeping production costs to a minimum.
  • Work to ensure that the Quality Management System is met and upheld in all assigned departments.
  • Help design and implement procedures related to areas of responsibility as applicable.
  • Ensure employees work safely and hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Supervise and monitor employees reporting to you; including performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
  • Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure production departments operate within regulatory and statutory regulations,
  • Ensure continuous improvements are submitted, planned and implemented in all departments.
  • Write-up work procedures and train as required.
  • Monitor available time for production.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e. tooling, drawing requirements and interpretations.
  • Assist Plant Manager to ensure that adequate supervision is present in the plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.


Minimum Job Requirements


  • Physical- proficient in using a PC keyboard
  • Working Hours- fulltime (45+ hrs/week) employment
  • Personal Traits- Good communication abilities and ability to work well with supervisors and employees. Ability to multi-task with conscientious attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot process breakdowns. Excellent mechanical acumen and problem-solving skills required.
  • Hands on experience in paint booth and industrial coatings including understanding viscosity and formulation a plus.
  • Friendly demeanor, experience with working with customers.
  • Good organization skills, must be able to schedule the plant.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and an ERP type production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing system.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others.
  • Understanding of environmental and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience with an MRP system and ISO


Education and Experience


  • * Metal fabrication shop experience of 5+ years. Metal coating experience is a plus
