| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees who provide cleaning service and floor care to more than 40,000 campus customers in the maintenance and operation of the University's 18 million plus square feet over 300 teaching, research, medical, administrative, residential, athletic and library buildings. | Position Summary |
The Zone Manager is one of approximately 20-25 supervisors responsible for organizing and directing the daily cleaning operations for a designated group of University buildings. Each Zone Manager oversees 10-30 employees and manages an average of 500,000 square feet of space, including offices, lounges, restrooms, student housing, classrooms, laboratories, entrances, exits, and stairwells. Each Zone Manager's assigned area may require additional expertise in one or more areas. These may include expertise in housing and residential student facilities in a campus setting, including management of custodial operations for student residences, including preparation and turnover of housing units during summer and academic transitions; research, laboratory, or medical environments, including procedures for contamination containment, hazardous waste handling, and compliance with environmental health and safety regulations; academic and administrative settings, including maintenance of classrooms, offices, meeting spaces, and historically significant structures or holdings; and special event and athletic facilities, including coordination of housekeeping support for athletic events, academic gatherings, campus-related community events and other high traffic campus activities.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification or eligibility for certification. |
| Management Preferences |
Demonstrated supervisory experience in custodial or institutional housekeeping operations, preferably within an academic setting, student residential housing environment, or medical/research facility.
Demonstrates excellent customer service with clear, professional verbal and written communication to building occupants and stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of team cleaning processes including proper cleaning techniques and safety requirements to train Housekeepers.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Strong interpersonal skills. |

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
This position is designated as mandatory and requires the employee to report to work to support critical University operations during adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including public health emergencies or situations that may result in University closure. Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment. Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion. Employees be able to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation. |
