GENERAL SUMMARY:

Works with internal and external customers to assure timely completion of data in the electronic medical record and compliance with regulatory standards.



PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Analyzes predetermined scanned and interfaced documents to assure presence in the EMR including appropriate signatures.

3. *Identifies deficiencies and assigns to appropriate medical practitioner for follow-up/correction.

4. *Re-analyzes and monitors completed documents to assure all regulatory and medical staff requirements are met.

5. *Monitors physician's timely completion of records according to procedure.

6. *Sends appropriate communications notifying physicians of incomplete status and pending suspension from Medical Staff privileges.

7. Provides office coverage by taking office phone calls as needed and answering requests from physician offices; investigates and resolves EMR workques.

8. *Adheres to and honors patient confidentiality at all times

9. *Performs monitoring of EMR work to assure compliance to procedures.

10. *Investigates and resolves patient chart discrepancies noted by system reports; merges patient accounts and electronically moves patient chart forms as appropriate.

11. *Receives electronic work lists for specified customers and manages the work list per prescribed procedures.

12. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

13. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

14. Performs other related duties as assigned as needed for the HIM department, including but not exclusive to assisting in Release of Information

15. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

2. Knowledge of HIPPA Privacy procedures and facility guidelines

3. Knowledge of hospital information systems, dictation and transcription systems.

4. Knowledge of health information management functions and patient medical record contents

5. Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and treatments.

6. Ability to teach internal and external customers how to use charting software system.

7. Ability to pronounce medical terms correctly.

8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

9. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

11. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.

12. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

13. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

14. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalency required. Additional post-secondary course work preferred. Minimum of two (2) years experience related to electronic medical records and document imaging systems required.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
