Position Summary

Lead commercial counsel to a primary global business segment operating in industrial and defense markets, and principal legal advisor supporting key customer accounts and corporate functions, including information technology, acquisition integration activities and real estate.

Scope, Supervision & Interaction:

  • Reports directly to Associate General Counsel (Commercial & Compliance Practice Area Leader and lead commercial counsel to Parker's Aerospace Group)
  • Works closely with corporate officers and other business leaders across the company
  • Collaborates with Legal Department team members and external advisors; does not currently have direct reports

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as lead commercial counsel to a large global business segment supporting a variety of transactional and business-related matters and objectives, including preparing, reviewing and negotiating complex sales and distribution agreements, terms and conditions and other transactional agreements
  • Lead, manage and support various aspects of the company, including review and negotiation of key customer sales agreements, information technology service and licensing agreements, real estate transactions, and acquisition integration guidance and support
  • Operate as a trusted business partner supporting Parker strategies, focusing on client experience, value creation, continuous improvement, and having a positive impact on culture and values
  • Collaborate with other Legal Department team members and external advisors to identify and resolve a wide range of legal challenges
  • Lead and actively participate in Legal Department strategy deployment and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Efficiently coordinate, manage and provide direction to external counsel and other third-party service providers as needed
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in one or more appropriate jurisdictions
  • Five or more years of progressive experience as a practicing commercial lawyer, specializing in advising, drafting and negotiating complex sale or procurement transactions.
  • Ability to independently perform each essential function with skill and efficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively simplify complex issues and facilitate, influence and negotiate across regions, personalities, styles and cultures
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills aligned with client objectives, financial goals and operational needs of the business
  • Ability to operate and address a variety of legal and business issues independently with minimal supervision
  • Creative self-starter with ability to develop and implement innovative, flexible, balanced and practical legal and business solutions
  • Collaborative with others, able to work as part of a team to accomplish goals
