Summary: The Assistant Director of Technical Assistance and Professional Development for the Iowa Reading Research Center provides support to and works directly with the Director of the IRRC to implement policies and procedures of the Center, to initiate and coordinate Center projects and programs, and to promote Center services. The position will work directly with stakeholders in leadership at the UI, within the Iowa DE, school districts, AEAs, and external agencies, leading projects and programs that have strategic importance at all levels. This is a full-time, 12-month specified term appointment. This position will work on-site at the Iowa Reading Research Center in Iowa City, Iowa or in a hybrid manner as approved by the Director of the Iowa Reading Research Center. Required Qualification: Master's degree in the field of education, special education, curriculum and instruction, educational psychology, or related area. Experience (typically 10 years) in project management or related field. Experience synthesizing research and best practice information to support districts/schools in implementing instructional practices aligned to the science of reading that improve student learning outcomes. Extensive experience and understanding of developing and delivering technical assistance and professional development to adults and educators. Experience in instructional technology and various digital and online applications. Experience creating, delivering and assessing training and professional development. Extensive proficiency in written and verbal communication skills. Extensive proficiency with software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (word and excel).
