Unit Description:

Position Overview:

The Respiratory Therapy Tech Student assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases andconditions. This includes the delivery of medicated and non-medicated therapy as ordered by a provider.The Respiratory Therapy Tech Student assists in departmental operations by assisting with supplies andequipment management.

Key Responsibilities [within student scope]

• Assesses the appropriateness of therapy and makes recommendations.

• Performs, assesses, and instructs the effective administration of oxygen, aerosol medications,humidification, suctioning, and chest physiotherapy.

• Provides patient/family education concerning the safe and effective use of equipment where applicable. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Highschool/GED
• Must be a student licensed by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care as a limited License Respiratory Care Practitioner inthe state of Kentucky and in accordance with the provisions of KRS chapter 314A.
• Must maintain active BLS training. [Within 30 days of hire]
