Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Compliance manages the activities of two or more sections or departments through strong tactical decision making while piloting unforeseen issues. Manages the team's strategy and programs, ensuring overall effectiveness. Manages and builds relationship with Senior leadership within the region. Acts as a subject matter expert for compliance subjects assigned, with overall ownership of compliance of those subjects within the region.

Responsibilities

Team Management


  • Leads, manages, recruits, retains, develops compliance staff, within the assigned region for relevant/assigned compliance related subjects

  • Manages several functional areas, divisions through strong tactical decision making through managing costs, methods and staffing

  • Socializes change with peers or other leaders


Audits & Certifications


  • Oversees coordination of site level compliance audits (internal and external)

  • Acts as SPOC for Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) for audit activities

  • Evaluates efficacy of the team's audit management and the deployment of corrective and preventive actions to the field, systems, processes

  • Ownership of local/country/site specific certification (non-regional, non-global)

  • Identifies processes to be audited based on a set criteria and controls

  • Defines and maintains audit criteria and controls based on industry and Equinix updates and best practices

  • Reports any findings to management and relevant stakeholders

  • Provides guidance and consulting in any audit finding escalations within operations

  • Manages rollout of new certifications and sustenance of existing certifications within the sites in scope

  • Responsible for audit vendor management as assigned


Management Systems


  • Provides recommendations to improve processes and the resolution of complex issues based on expertise

  • Oversees local procedure development to comply with local legislative or Equinix requirements

  • Oversees/Ensures all required compliance records are maintained in local/global repositories; this includes records relevant to Operations compliance(QISBC and EHS)

  • Creates and presents global management review content

  • Owns global/regional policies relevant to compliance subject assigned


Program Management


  • Makes broader recommendations for continuous improvements based on report results

  • Ensures all required legislative or Company reports have been completed and submitted

  • Forecasts and tracks compliance budgets for sites in scope.

  • Shares and signs-off on local compliance objectives in conjunction with Compliance COE

  • Lead, set objectives and identify need for compliance projects as per scope of work

  • Identify and design metrics to enhance business processes to help achieve overall operations/company goals.

  • Analyze metrics to identify process improvements


Training


  • Assesses strategic training needs and creates training strategy in collaboration with other teams (local, regional, global and cross-functional teams); leads implementation of training plan

  • Creates relevant compliance training content

  • Monitors training of external/internal stakeholders to assure necessary standards training is delivered to applicable employees


1st Line Responsibilities


  • Acts as first escalation point for site level compliance related customer or any third party audits

  • Oversees maintenance of local site level management system assets by ensuring accuracy and adequacy

  • Hosts management review meetings for the site/country in conjunction with Compliance COE

  • Creates and tracks site level compliance budgets as per needs/requirements from sites and Compliance COE

  • Liaises with 2nd line of defense on regular basis to design and track compliance strategy for the country/region in scope


2nd Line Responsibilities


  • Oversees the coordination of external and compliance teams

  • Works with compliance team to look for SWOT opportunities in the compliance management process

  • Directs standards team training strategy to assure topic coverage and expertise is maintained; Initiates projects as required

  • Plans budget for area of expertise; Provides Subject Matter Expertise for Compliance

  • Analyzes and investigates Regional/Global level incidents and advices on remedial action

  • Participates in external audits as a SME

  • Plans and oversees internal audits

  • Advises 1st line of defense staff on their management reviews


Compliance Implementation/Consulting


  • Is an escalation resource for issues resulting in extremely high risk issues

  • Directs overall support strategy looking for opportunities to connect with cross-functional teams to improve risk mitigation and improve programs

  • Leads on programs, projects, issues, and results, and works with process owners to continuously improve

  • Works cross-functionally to improve adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements

  • Ensures a process is in place for the application and maintenance of all relevant legally required documents and records


Qualifications


  • 10+ years of experience in relevant field of compliance preferred

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related subject preferred

  • QISBC or EHS certification preferred, qualified lead auditor/implementer in multiple standards preferred


The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - DE2 Denver : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual

United States - DC10 Washington DC : 150,000 - 224,000 USD / Annual

United States - NY4 New York City : 150,000 - 224,000 USD / Annual

United States - DA1 Dallas : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
