Job Description:

The Metrology Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and advancing automated defect detection and measurement capabilities within the MEMS manufacturing line. This role supports highvolume production through rigorous process monitoring, data analysis, and collaboration with crossfunctional engineering teams. The engineer will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enable data-driven decision-making, and help ensure product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Automated Defect Detection & Metrology Systems

  • Maintain, calibrate, and optimize automated defect inspection and metrology tools to ensure robust performance in a highvolume MEMS manufacturing environment.

  • Monitor tool health, detection sensitivity, measurement accuracy, and falsecall rates; drive corrective actions when deviations occur.

  • Analyze defect trends, measurement stability, and metrology outputs to identify yieldimpacting issues.

Data Labeling & Deep Learning Model Support

  • Perform defect labeling, categorization, and annotation to enable development and refinement of deep learning-based defect detection models.

  • Prepare and curate representative datasets, ensuring quality, consistency, and traceability for model training and validation.

  • Partner with data science and automation teams to evaluate model performance and implement improved algorithms in production.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

  • Work closely with upstream and downstream modules-including lithography, planarization, etch, and plating-to troubleshoot issues and identify defect sources.

  • Participate in crossmodule process improvement projects to reduce defectivity and improve overall process robustness.

  • Provide metrology expertise during new process introductions, tool qualifications, and engineering evaluations.

Documentation & Manufacturing Support

  • Create, maintain, and update work instructions (WIs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation related to metrology and inspection operations.

  • Train operations personnel on metrology tool usage, inspection criteria, and process requirements.

  • Support daily production activities, including responding to tool alarms, providing rapid defect analysis, and ensuring continuity of manufacturing flow.

Pay Range:

$90,500.00 - $118,755.00

Pay Range Explained:

This role in Livermore, California pays between $90,500.00 and $118,755.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off. You'll also be eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and flexible spending or savings accounts.
