High Level Project Overview:
- Able to produce/update design drawings for gas pipeline projects and research and provide company records to help produce project folders. Organization is a must.
Job Description:
- The contractor will be expected to assist current Engineering Technicians.
- Responsibilities include creating inspection packets, reviewing checklists, and printing and assembling folders required for the inspection team.
- The contractor must be able to learn SAP and create VCU's for various projects including transmission, storage, gathering, and high to low-pressure distribution.
- The role involves records research, understanding field notes, property records, digital records, and using the Enbridge GIS system called SAMS.
- The contractor will help create electronic requests to Enbridge vendors for Basemaps and pipeline design and will be responsible for submitting online requests for Environmental and Land. AutoCAD experience is needed for updating company documents such as plugging/takedown maps and modifying existing pipeline designs.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Gas pipeline design, utility knowledge, civil drafting/design knowledge of working in Right of Ways, surveying background, any type of civil/roadway construction background, understanding/comprehension of SOP's.
Top 3 Required Skills:
- AutoCAD drafting/design
- SAP/ Microsoft Tools/ Proficient in Excel
- Gas/Utility/Construction knowledge
Additional Good to Know Info:
- Understanding of GIS, awareness of safety, constructability of pipelines, and land/easement documentation.
Team Fit and Personality Requirements:
- Job shadowing is crucial in this position. Learning from the current workforce is essential. Willingness to partner with current employees and the ability to retain information is required. Being self-motivated and understanding how to follow-through is crucial.
Specific Companies/Industry Experience Preferred:
- Electrical, petroleum, civil, mechanical, chemical, drafting schools. Civil would be the best fit, with Mechanical second. However, an engineering brain with attention to detail and organizational skills is key.
Minimum Education Required:
Preferred Years of Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience, with 5 years preferred. The role places less emphasis on AutoCAD experience (approximately 30% of the time would be doing AutoCAD) and more on Records Keeping, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and Organizational skills.
