Function:

Maintenance Job Summary:This position will provide instrument and electrical technical support during the design, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases of the new Blue Point site, ensuring a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly plant. While the primary focus will be on instrumentation and electrical equipment, job duties will also require technical support for PLC, DCS, and SIS control systems.
The successful candidate will possess technical expertise in the areas of field measurement instruments with HART technology, CEMS analyzers, motor control circuits, and electrical power distribution equipment. Strong knowledge of DCS, SIS, and PLC systems is also required.
This position requires a combination of office work and field work, with job responsibilities varying from document review to hands-on troubleshooting of various types of I&E equipment. Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review instrument and electrical documentation such as specification and data sheets, loop sheets, installation drawings, wiring diagrams, motor schematics, manufacturer equipment drawings, and provide comments as needed.
  • Participate in-person at the design review, kick-off, and pre-inspection meetings at vendor's offices.
  • Travel domestically and globally to attend factory acceptance and module yard acceptance testing for I&E equipment.
  • Provide work direction and field oversight to I&E construction contractors, as needed.
  • Inspect I&E construction contractor's work for compliance with project specifications and installation details.
  • Work with internal I&E engineering and outside I&E construction contractors to resolve field installation and construction issues during project execution.
  • Participate in plant start up, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Identify and resolve I&E equipment malfunctions and problems during all project phases.
  • Review and sign off on I&E contractor calibration, loop checking, testing, and other related documents.
  • Assist in the development of I&E maintenance and reliability procedures for the future operating plant.

Internal Controls:

Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.

Successful Incumbents will have:

  • Ability to maintain health, safety, and environmental standards as a personal performance core value.
  • Previous experience working with HART instrumentation and performing tasks via an instrument asset management system.
  • Knowledge of various analyzer systems required for chemical plant operations including CEMS and Gas Chromatographs.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and other electrical safe work practices.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability.
  • Physical capability, availability, willingness, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal and influential skills.
  • Ability to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during process unit erection, commissioning, startups, shutdowns, upsets, equipment inspections, and turnarounds
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training, meetings, and equipment acceptance testing
  • Effective organizational, time management, and communication skills Self-motivation in advancing to the highest level possible
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of electrical, instrumentation, analyzer, and control system equipment
  • Proven experience in capital projects, specifically commissioning and startup

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Academic degrees, certifications and licenses (i.e. associate degree, bachelor degree, etc.)

2. Significant chemical or manufacturing plant related work experience

3. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training required. Associate's degree from technical school is desired

4. NCCER certified Industrial Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation (IME&I)

5. Advanced skills from several of the major standard industrial I&E skills including electrical AC/DC voltage, PLC, pneumatic control valves and systems, basic electronics, motor control systems and process control systems

6. Experience in 480V, 4160V, 13.8kV, and 34.5kV electrical systems is required
