Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Department Administrator
SPVR for the Honors College.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides overall administrative management and supervision of the daily operations of the Honors College, in coordination with and reporting to the Dean of the College.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of management-level requests and actions, and professional, prompt, and courteous service to College administrative team, campus partners, and business units.
- Develops, maintains, and supervises the implementation of office procedures and processes while providing oversight, facilitation, and supervision of policy interpretation.
- Oversees purchasing, personnel, space and facilities planning.
- Coordinates with other staff on major event design, promotion, and implementation/
- Oversees internal office business processes.
- Resolves a diverse range of complications consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the unit and with a comprehensive understanding of administration/office management in accordance with management principles, applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures.
- Interprets, communicates, and implements policies and practices for differing needs of a diverse student, faculty, and administrative populations.
- Handles performance standards, conducting and facilitating staff and student employee evaluations.
- Works with authority to hire and fire student staff and subordinate professional staff, in coordination with the Dean.
- Coordinates with the Dean on high-level projects that evolve from institutional priorities, faculty relations, staffing needs, assessment and retention, donor relations, and more.
- Works with strict confidentiality.
- Works independently, with broadly defined work objectives and limited review of overall results, while serving in the capacity of the chief-of-staff to the Dean.
- Performs professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge in one or more fields of management/administration and a solid understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, terminology, and applied bases in area of specialization.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.
- Five (5) years of prior relevant experience in an administrative function.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Knowledge of Cornerstone applications: PeopleSoft, RU Marketplace, ROCS; also Course Atlas, REGIS.
- Familiarity with Rutgers processes and systems.

- The Honors College is a fully integrated office and community.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.; some event set-up/tear-down such as moving folding chairs, set-up for events and meals, and take responsibility for certain office and common area facilities.
