| Position Summary |
A primary focus for this position will be the increasing awareness of Health and Safety issues and guidelines set forth by the University. With oversight, the building and it's contents will be kept in better condition. In addition, the Center's overall costs for equipment repair will be reduced. The objective for the Facilities Coordinator is ultimately to provide a smoother operation for faculty and staff to conduct research. This position should add to the overall efficiency in administering to the needs of Cancer Center personnel by reducing the time necessary for faculty and staff to solve routine but important problems in the Center. The Facility Coordinator will assist the Business Manager by serving as a conduit for building problems, ordering of common supplies and equipment, researching the costs and benefits of equipment for grant purposes, resolving Health and Safety issues, and maintaining files on scientific catalogs and other resource materials. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
| Management Preferences |
The Ideal person for this position should have experience with scientific equipment; prior experience in a research laboratory is preferable. Because of the need for equipment repairs, purchases, etc., the individual in this position should have some knowledge of the types of equipment in a lab and their function. The selected candidate will be expected to conduct minor repairs on scientific equipment. A BA in a science field would benefit the candidate but could be substituted with two years experience in a research laboratory. |
