Overview
A successful Fleet Technician will independently and successfully repair, rebuild, and maintain various brands of trucks and truck engines, equipment and/or components in a timely manner and according to specifications. Responsibilities
- Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
- Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
- Safely assemble and disassemble components and equipment according to the manufacturer's specifications, including chassis, axles, etc.
- Verify findings, review readings of gauges, meters, and procedures and compare to manufactures specs.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Meet standard jobs expectations for assigned work orders.
- Test the parts and/ or equipment and perform quality check after work is complete.
- Pressure wash parts and equipment when necessary.
- Maintain tool requirements.
- Preparing parts requisitions, timecards, part returns, accurate and complete service reports and other necessary reports and forms.
- Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years' experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing on-highway trucks and equipment preferred.
- Shift work, weekends and/or 24-hour calls may be required.
- Should have or be able to obtain a CDL license.
- Skill-level requirements vary from basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to component replacement.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment (i.e., Cat ET, CAT-SIS)
- Familiarization of electronic cables, connections and sensors.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures is required.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics, operating and maintenance service manuals.
- Organizational and time management skills required. Must have the ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast-paced industry and deadlines.
- Must be a Team player that is enthusiastic and hard working with the ability to complete work with minimal supervision.
- High degree of interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication skills is required.
- Must possess the personal discipline to establish the proper image as a representative of Blanchard with the ability to meet and work with the customer in a professional manner.
Working Conditions
- The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside (non-climate controlled) throughout the day.
- Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent injury and/or hazardous material.
- Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
- Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Must be able to lift varied weights.
