What you'll do

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team in Carlsbad, CA! This hybrid role offers the unique blend of working collaboratively within our Carlsbad office and the flexibility of remote work.

We are seeking a proactive Financial Analyst to join the Viasat Global Services (VGS) team as a strategic partner reporting to the VP of Finance. In this role, you will provide comprehensive financial management and reporting by leveraging both direct analysis and corporate shared services. As a key member of the VGS headcount analysis team, you will be a catalyst for developing metrics and workforce reporting. By blending financial data with operational insights, you will create highly visual analytics that enable VGS leadership to optimize medium-term results and drive organizational efficiency across all functional areas.

Beyond standard reporting, you will be responsible for delivering commercially-focused Management Information (MI) that provides the VGS Leadership Team with clear, actionable takeaways. You will lead the coordination of budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range strategic plans, ensuring they remain tightly aligned with the broader business strategy. Your expertise will be vital in analyzing actuals versus plan, identifying key performance drivers, and providing forward-looking insight into risks and opportunities. This role is designed for a candidate who can translate complex data into a compelling narrative that ensures the business meets its performance outcomes.


The day-to-day

Partnering with Business Stakeholders
  • Strategic Advisory: Serve as a Finance Business Partner to the VGS teams, providing critical financial support and commercial guidance to drive decision-making.

  • Relationship Management: Serdve as a trusted advisor and influencer for key stakeholders across the organization.

  • Financial Consultation: Provide ongoing advisory support regarding finance processes, accounting treatments, pricing mechanics, and internal controls.

  • Problem Solving: Conduct ad hoc analysis and resolve complex financial or commercial issues for business units as they arise.

Reporting and Forecasting
  • Reporting Development: Lead the creation and production of monthly reporting packages for VGS Leadership and oversee the quarterly forecasting process.

  • Insightful Analysis: Deliver accurate, timely financial and operational results to Executive teams, accompanied by concise, action-oriented business commentary.

  • Performance Oversight: Systematically review actual versus forecasted performance. Collaborate with the VP of Finance and VGS Headcount Lead to identify and mitigate material risks while capitalizing on business opportunities.

  • Strategic Roadmap: Support the VP of Finance in maintaining a high-quality full-year forecast. Ensure it accurately reflects business plans, identifies the roadmap for year-end targets, and maintains strong buy-in from the management team.

Budgeting and Long-Range Planning
  • Operational & Strategic Planning: Support the VP of Finance and Headcount Lead in executing the Operating Plan (Op Plan) and Strategic Plan (Strat Plan).

  • Alignment: Ensure all plans are high-quality, delivered on schedule, and aligned with Group-level financial targets and VGS management goals.

Process Improvement
  • Operational Excellence: Act as a catalyst for change by identifying and implementing improvements to financial processes and workflows.


What you'll need

  • 3-5 years experience in a public accounting or corporate accounting/finance role.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or finance.
  • Progressive experience in finance / decision support and business partnering within quality companies.
  • Superior analytical skills coupled with good strategic business understanding leading to key business insight.
  • Ability to draw high quality analysis out of the results that drive decisions.
  • Strong people skills, confident and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment at all levels. Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • CPA license is preferred.
  • Proactive individual with the ability to effectively manage various activities while adhering to deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment, maintaining focus and productivity while new processes, structures and ways of working are being developed and embedded.

Salary range

$78,000.00 - $123,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $95,500.00- $143,500.00/ annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
