The Practice Leader - Area of Excellence / Subject Matter Expert (AoE / SME) provides horizontal leadership across a sector by elevating technical rigor, delivery discipline, and operational maturity within a defined Area of Excellence or recognized subject matter expertise. This role strengthens consistency, capability, and performance by guiding the development, adoption, and continuous improvement of standards and best practices. Operating through influence rather than direct project authority, this Practice Leader contributes to sector-wide performance by advancing expertise and disciplined execution across practices.

Responsibilities

    Leads direction and maturity of the assigned Area of Excellence or subject matter domain within the sector
  • Develops and maintains standards, tools, and best practices
  • Coach teams and Practice Leaders to elevate performance and consistency within an AoE or SME domain.
  • Monitors performance trends and recommends improvements to strengthen delivery discipline and effectiveness.
  • Advances the visibility and credibility of the AoE or specialized expertise through thought and technical leadership
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the sector.
  • Supports sector-level capability advancement and the adoption of AoE or SME initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Professional licensure or relevant certification required, where applicable.
  • 10+ years of experience with demonstrated expertise within an Area of Excellence or specialized subject matter domain.
  • Proven impact on improving standards, processes, or technical performance within teams or practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers and strengthen consistency across multiple teams.
  • Experience contributing to capability advancement, training, or knowledge-sharing initiatives.
