General Description. The Human Resources Coordinator supports the day-to-day Human Resource needs of a project/division, with instruction and guidance by the Human Resources Manager. This is an entry level position, with a career path within the Human Resource dept. Key Responsibilities
- Employee Service
- Acts as point of contact responsible for initial employee issues and facilitates closure through escalation to the Human Resource Manager.
- Responds to employee inquiries and requests within a timely manner.
- Assists project employees with all human resource related issues or questions including but not limited to: PTO requests, expense reports, IT request forms, submit driving eligibility paperwork, maintains and coordinates Personnel Action Forms
- Program Administration
- Familiar with internal policies and procedures for the company.
- Respond to employee relations matters consistent with company policy guidelines.
- Ensure Policies and Procedures are implemented, escalating any issues to Human Resource Manager.
- Prepares and maintains CDL Driver files for state compliance on a regular basis
- OJT Program Management
- Enroll eligible new employees in OJT program
- Maintain log of submitted hours for OJT enrollees
- Submit monthly updates to SCDOT OJT coordinator
- Provide certificate of completion to enrollees whom have completed program
- Completes, organizes and submits required documentation to SCDOT OJT coordinator on an as needed basis.
- Maintain enrollee documentation in accordance with SCDOT OJT guidelines and regulations
- Recruitment
- Provide applications to headquarters and Supervisors as needed
- Screening of applicant references, as requested by Supervisor
- Onboarding
- Assist employees with paperwork, employment verification, enter new employees into company internal KHEOPS software
- Conduct employee orientations
- Answer questions of employees
- Assist employees in voluntary benefit enrollment, answer questions re: benefits
- Assist in project supervision in completion of new hire paperwork
- Process pre-employment paperwork into appropriate databases
- Benefits
- Familiar with Company provided events, and contact information
- Assist with employee Open Enrollment meetings
- Liaise between employees and Group Benefit Director
- Miscellaneous
- Coordinate monthly birthday celebrations
- Order business cards for applicable employees
- Liaise between project employees and group payroll department
- Assist Wellness Program Coordinator with implementation and execution of group wellness initiatives
- Other duties may be assigned as required
Qualification Requirements

- Education and Experience. This position typically is an entry-level job. Bachelor degree in Human Resources or closely related field is preferred but not required.
- 0-3 years of HR experience including employee relations and EEO compliance experience.
- Knowledge of Company policies and all pertinent federal and state regulations.
- Ability to provide efficient, professional customer service, including problem-solving skills.
- Displayed experience in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle potentially stressful situations.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as SAP.
- Ability to complete independent responsibilities, while working effectively in a team environment.
- Organizational skills, including the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to work extended shift (nights, weekends) as needed to support business needs.

- Required to sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee may regularly be required to walk or stand and occasionally be required to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Human Resources Manager encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Work generally is performed in an office environment, although periodic visits to construction sites and asphalt manufacturing facilities is required.
- Noise level in the typical office work environment is quiet.
