What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Mechanical Superintendentto join our Construction Services Team in New York, NY. This role requiring regular attendance in New York, NY office.

** Hours 3:30 PM - 11:30 PM

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Mechanical Superintendent, you will lead HVAC and boiler-focused projects that strengthen critical building systems and improve overall performance. You will guide task order-based mechanical upgrades that may include boiler replacements, HVAC system enhancements, mechanical room renovations, piping installations, and controls integration.

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering reliable, high-quality mechanical construction solutions while collaborating with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex work, apply your technical expertise, and make a meaningful impact on essential infrastructure projects across New York.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Write daily field reports and provide daily photography of work activities and installation methods.
  • Catalog and file field documentation appropriately.
  • Coordinate schedule and construction activities with 3rd Party Inspectors, Contractors, and Owner staff.
  • Confirm installed materials are per approved submittals, project specifications, and manufacturer's requirements.
  • Full time Field Quality Verification, Safety Inspections, etc.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Manager regarding construction activities, job progress, quality verification, and field oversight.
  • Provide updates and report to Project Manager on a daily basis with regard to project status.
Education | Experience:

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a construction-related field from an accredited college or university required; alternatively, ten (10) years of relevant experience with an associate degree or twelve (12) years of relevant experience without a degree will be considered.

  • Eight (8) years of full-time experience as a technical specialist in construction and design-related work, with at least four (4) years managing all phases of mechanical construction projects of similar size and complexity.

  • Ability to understand and interpret contract documents, including specifications, drawings, and shop drawings.

  • Experience with new construction and renovation projects, specifically involving HVAC and boiler systems.

  • Shall be capable of providing clear, concise written and oral communication.
  • Effective communicator who is able to maintain and foster positive relationships with the public entities, architects, government agencies, inspections departments, utility owners, and company employees
  • Understanding of cost control and schedule management
  • Resourcefulness, imagination and a passion for challenges
  • High level of fairness, honesty and integrity
  • Experience with the public sector and educational facilities preferred
  • 30-hour OSHA certification is required
  • Must be able to use technology such as Microsoft Word, Excel

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
