Low Voltage Electrical Apprentice - Columbus, OH Experience Level: Entry Level Schedule: Monday-Friday (1st & 2nd Shift); OT and Saturday work may be required Work Type: On-Site Location: Columbus, OH Role Overview We are seeking an entry-level Low Voltage Electrical Apprentice to support cabling and infrastructure installations within a data center environment. This role is ideal for candidates with construction, warehouse, or general labor experience who are eager to build a career in low-voltage, cabling, and electrical systems. You will work alongside lead technicians to learn industry standards, tools, and techniques while supporting large-scale technology infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities * Pull, dress, and label low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) according to TIA/EIA standards * Begin RJ45 connector and patch panel terminations with supervision * Assist with labeling, cable routing, and cable identification * Learn and perform basic punch-downs for telecom blocks * Support cable testing using basic tools such as Fluke or EXFO under guidance * Gain exposure to basic fiber cable dressing and handling * Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area * Follow all safety protocols and take direction from lead technicians and supervisors Required Skills & Experience * Low-voltage experience or basic understanding of cabling (preferred but not required) * Construction, warehouse, or labor experience * Ability to perform termination and punchdown tasks (training provided) * Strong attendance, work ethic, and reliability * Ability to work both 1st and 2nd shift, plus OT and Saturdays * Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on feet for extended periods Top Skills * Install / Installation * Low Voltage Cabling * Termination / Punchdown * Cat5 / Cat6 Cabling * Construction & General Labor * Fiber Exposure * Cable Installation * Structured Cabling * Telecommunications Nice-to-Have Skills * Telecommunication or structured cabling experience * Fiber experience (basic or advanced) * Data center or electrical apprentice experience Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, OH.
