The University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Cook. This position performs a variety of food preparation activities and related tasks according to quality and safety standards in dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position!

The position will work in a collaborative and educational environment to provide customer service and related activities in campus dining operations, following established procedures and best practices to assure high quality dining services. The incumbent will be expected to adapt quickly and effectively to daily changes in business needs including increased & decreased guest count, menu substitutions, staffing needs, customer requests, and more.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods.

  • Trains and guides student workers.

  • Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities.

  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas.

  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Education

* H.S. Diploma or GED

Required Skills, Experience, and Certifications/Licensures:

  • At least 1-year prior food service experience

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that includes evenings, nights, and weekends

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
