Job description

Job Title: VP, Core System Manager
Location: Roseville, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Information Technology / Banking Operations

Position Overview

The VP, Core System Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for the ownership, management, and optimization of the Bank's critical technology infrastructure, including the Fiserv DNA core banking system and the Q2 online and mobile banking platforms.
This individual will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, overseeing system configurations, upgrades, and integrations. As a key stakeholder in the Bank's operational efficiency, the Core System Manager drives project lifecycles-from requirements gathering to final implementation-while ensuring security, compliance, and performance. This role is also responsible for mentoring a team of analysts to support the organization's long-term technology strategy.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Optimization

  • Core Management: Manage and maintain the Fiserv DNA core system and peripheral applications (including Q2) to ensure seamless banking operations and high availability.
  • Configuration & Customization: Configure system parameters to align with business requirements, enhance user acceptance, and support new product launches.
  • Technical Support: Serve as the high-level escalation point for complex technical issues, resolving system errors that impact clients or internal operations.
  • Reporting: Design and generate complex reports to support various business units and strategic decision-making.

Project Management & Strategy

  • Implementation Lifecycle: Lead system implementations from end-to-end, including requirements gathering, analysis, solution design, configuration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement process improvements that streamline Bank operations and maximize system utility.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain systematic project documentation, ensuring a clear audit trail for all system changes and project milestones.

Vendor Management & Compliance

  • Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary interface with core vendors (e.g., Fiserv) to manage ticket escalation, system updates, and validation of settings.
  • Upgrades & Testing: coordinate and execute core system upgrades and migrations, utilizing test environments to ensure stability prior to production release.
  • Security & Audit: Enforce strict change management controls; perform periodic audits of user roles and security settings. Liaise with auditors and examiners to provide validation testing and evidence of security controls.

Leadership

  • Team Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Training: Stay current with industry best practices by participating in Fiserv DNA training and community user groups.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of analyst experience specifically with core banking systems (Fiserv DNA experience highly preferred).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience with a strong background in core system administration and business management.
  • Project Management: Proven project management skills; PMP certification or equivalent education is preferred. Knowledge of MS Project or similar tools is required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of bank operations, core platform functions, API integrations, and system security protocols.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze unique, unstructured technical issues and develop collaborative solutions without precedent.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for internal staff and external professionals.

Community Engagement

  • CRA Volunteer Program: This role includes a commitment to the community with a minimum of 10 hours of CRA-qualified volunteer service annually. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled during business hours and are fully compensable, with mileage reimbursement provided.
