Platform Engineer, Principal

Your Role

The Developer & Employee Experience Team serves at the direction of the Sr. Director of Technical Engineering, enabling BSC's journey to the cloud. The Platform Engineer, Principal will report to the Sr. Manager of Technical Engineering. In this role you will design, build, and maintain our Internal Developer Platform (BlueStack), enabling operational excellence for Blue Shield of CA, our trading partners, and provider networks.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Requires 10 years of professional experience serving as a technical expert and thought leader in enterprise Platform development, and maintenance
• Requires hands on experience designing, developing, and managing cloud environments using Infrastructure-as-Code in a heavily regulated, GitOps and DevOps environment
• Prefers 5 years of in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience designing, developing, and managing cloud hosting providers, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Prefers 5 years of in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience designing, developing, and managing Linux Operating Systems
• Kubernetes experience strongly desired
• Additional Cloud Hosting Provider certifications strongly preferred
• Experience working in an agile development environment is strongly desired
• Experience working collaboratively with team while remote is required

Hybrid

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
