ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other and uses hand or power tools to secure parts
  • Mount assembled components on chassis, panels, or circuit boards
  • Route wiring and cabling through assembly to terminals according to color codes and solders or wraps wire around terminals to provide electrical connection
  • Perform intermediate to complex assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, coating, epoxy bonding, wiring, stamping, and color-coding parts and assemblies
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to provide openings for elements or wiring in accordance with hardware specifications
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions
  • Develop accurate and intelligible work instructions
  • Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities to resolve production problems utilizing the ECN procedure
  • Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD


Other Job Functions



  • Clean parts using cleaning solutions and/or air hoses
  • Mark and tag components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified
  • Other duties may be assigned

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and component identifications
  • Ability to work with minute parts and demonstrate finger dexterity
  • Ability to form and bend wires to specifications
  • Ability to work with stripping tools, wire cutters, soldering equipment, pace rework machine, SMT mounting and insertion tools, coax cable assembly tools, degreasers, and other tools of the trade


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Successful completion of IPC Solder Training and Certification within initial 2 - 6 weeks of employment with 1% or less defect rate on solder certification board.
  • Mechanical Assembly certification
  • Rework certification
  • Surface Mount Hand Installation certified
  • Board Coating certified
  • Experience with cable continuity testing
  • Experience with complex wiring of harnesses
  • Experience with developing work instructions and process problem identification


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Production environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (use of arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity for small parts assembly, frequent use)
  • Ability to lift iup to 30 pounds
  • 20/20 vision and color vision with or without corrective lenses
