Job Summary Under the direction of the Learning Enhancement Center (LEC) Director, this position supports and coordinates academic support programs such as the Embedded Peer-Tutoring Program. This position leads a diverse team of embedded peer-tutors and addresses embedded tutor development needs. Essential Functions 35% Under the supervision of the director, coordinates activities related to the Course Embedded Peer-Tutoring Program; serves as the primary program lead and resource for embedded tutors at the Southern & Dobson and Red Mountain campuses, based on embedded tutor assignments; and utilizes appropriate software and technology (e.g., TracCloud, Canvas, Google Suite, Video Conferencing Platforms, and/or equivalent) in order to execute job responsibilities. 25% Assists in the training of embedded tutors in soft-skills and learning strategies to ensure tutors can effectively transfer these strategies to students; plans and delivers face-to-face bi-weekly meetings, workshops, and other learning support activities; and supports persistence and retention initiatives. 20% Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, and evaluation of embedded tutors; reviews tutor availability each semester and coordinates the matching and placement of embedded tutors into preselected course sections in collaboration with the director and department supervisors; and assists with program data collection, assessment, and report development. 20% Monitors and assist embedded tutors in creating support session schedules in coordination with department supervisors; assists in the maintenance of department records, tracking platforms, resources, and schedules related to embedded tutoring; creates marketing materials in support of the Course Embedded Peer-Tutoring Program; researches trends and best practices in post-secondary academic support and embedded tutoring programs; represents the Learning Enhancement Center by conducting small and large group presentations about the Center services; performs other duties as assigned that are commensurate to grade level of position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Mathematics or Mathematics Education, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Education, Secondary Education, STEM Education, Curriculum & Instruction or related field and one year of program coordination experience. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Experience coordinating an embedded tutoring program in an institution of higher education. B. Experience serving as an embedded tutor or supplemental instruction leader in an institution of higher education. C. Experience implementing student success strategies with underprepared populations in a community college setting. D. Experience developing and delivering academic training workshops for small and large groups. E. Experience compiling and sorting data and articulating issues and recommendations. F. Experience with various educational software and technology programs (e.g., TracCloud, Learning Management System, Google Suite, Video Conferencing Platforms). G. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years. Special Working Conditions This position works in-person on the Southern and Dobson campus and may work at the Red Mountain campus as necessary. Peak tutoring times occur during the 16 weeks of the semester and one week before the start of classes. Requests for extended time off should be planned outside of these peak periods.
