Who We Are
Founded in 1965, UC Irvine is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is ranked among the nation's top 10 public universities by U.S. News & World Report. The campus has produced five Nobel laureates and is known for its academic achievement, premier research, innovation and anteater mascot. Led by Chancellor Howard Gillman, UC Irvine has more than 36,000 students and offers 224 degree programs. It's located in one of the world's safest and most economically vibrant communities and is Orange County's second-largest employer, contributing $7 billion annually to the local economy and $8 billion statewide. UCI Beall Applied Innovation's (BAI) purpose is to measurably improve lives through access to UCI-developed knowledge. We partner with researchers and industry to move UCI knowledge and discoveries into products and markets. With this goal, we collaborate closely with faculty/researchers, industry, and entrepreneurs to carry out a variety of projects and programs with four pillars of BAI's teams: Research Translation, New Ventures, Enterprise Collaborations, and Industry Sponsored Research. BAI is currently located at UCI Research Park. Our physical building, known as the Cove@UCI, provides office space for BAI staff, offers sublease space for emerging UCI ecosystem start-ups and partners, and a venue for programs and events designed to foster university-industry collaboration. Your Role on the Team BAI's Assistant Director, Facilities and Technology Services, is responsible for managing the operations, project planning, project execution, and physical maintenance of AV/IT, facilities, and subleases. This role manages a team comprised of professionals in various fields and assumes accountability for decisions made by subordinates. With a strategic mindset, this employee plans both long-term and short-term for noted functions to deliver results. Managing risk and minimizing erroneous decisions or failures to achieve goals is an important part of this role, as these result in additional costs and delays to overall schedules. This role receives assignments as objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals by formulating, implementing, and monitoring facilities management policies and programs, and by managing fiscal, physical, and personnel resources. They are responsible for supervising all building maintenance activities and overseeing after-hours/holiday building/facilities operations to ensure safety, and for taking appropriate action in emergency situations.
