Overview
The USU Employee Wellness Program, Be Well, seeks a positive, collaborative, and dynamic individual to join our team as a Registered Dietitian. Reporting directly to the Employee Wellness Manager, the Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, growth, and daily operations of the Employee Wellness nutrition education program for USU employees. This position is a key member of the Employee Wellness team in the Office of Human Resources and will work closely with Employee Wellness team members in achieving our program goal of "Creating a Culture of Wellness at Utah State University".

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah.

Responsibilities
Program Management - 80%
  • Responsible for coordination, development and growth of the nutrition coaching program offered to benefited employees and families through the Employee Wellness Program.
  • Develop and maintain online resources for the Utah State University community that encourage healthy eating habits and cooking.
    Assist in the development of strategic plans for nutrition programming and health promotion with the goal of providing educational opportunities and one-on-one counseling for benefited employees.
  • Provide individualized nutrition assessments, care plans, and follow-up consultations in accordance with the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) and professional standards of practice.
  • Coordinate with Employee Wellness Assistant Manager to deliver nutrition-based education, wellness presentations and programming for fitness classes and personal trainers.
  • Participate in and attend wellness sponsored events, i.e., annual Health and Wellness and World Mental Health Day.
  • Monitor and measure outcomes by selecting relevant nutrition care indicators; compares findings with intervention goals for nutrition and determines whether goals/outcomes are being met.
  • Participates in the development and revision of specialized education materials, clinical forms, and protocols.
  • Deliver virtual nutrition coaching and educational programming using digital engagement platforms.

Budget Management - 5%
  • Research, develop, monitor, and adhere to the program budgets.

Assessment& Evaluation - 5%
  • Evaluate nutrition education programs and services to determine overall effectiveness and satisfaction to decide on possible changes as deemed appropriate

Other - 10%
  • Prepare written communications such as monthly reports, annual reports, participation statistics, etc.
  • Maintains knowledge of special diets, allergies and intolerances and offers educational resources to the USU community
  • Ensure that state and local certification for health, safety, and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain active RD credential and complete required continuing education to ensure evidence-based practice.
  • Provide regular content for Employee Wellness social media accounts
  • Works to offer cooking demonstrations for USU Community
  • Collaborate with campus partners to align nutrition programming with broader wellness strategies.
  • Potential for travel to state-wide campuses and extension sites for presentations or consultations with benefited employees.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in Nutrition Science or related field
  • Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Current License to practice as a Certified Dietitian in the State of Utah (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • Minimum of two years' experience managing and developing nutrition and diet-based programs during which time the applicant has acquired and demonstrated the ability to perform essential duties of position
  • Strong presentation and engagement skills
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in nutrition science or health-related field
  • Certified Wellness Coach

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Administration, personnel & organizational management, budgeting, computer hardware/software operation, principles of superior customer service, and effective marketing
  • Interpret and apply USU rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish programmatic goals, facilitate change, and implement innovative programs and services.
