Summary:

Presbyterian is seeking a compassionate and reliable Patient Transport professional to support safe, efficient patient movement throughout the facility. This role transports patients between clinical and nonclinical areas for admissions, procedures, surgeries, transfers, and discharges while providing observation, companionship, and basic assistance with daily living as directed. The position supports nursing teams by ensuring transportrelated supplies and equipment are available, maintaining and monitoring medical therapies during transport, and communicating clearly with patients, staff, and Presbyterian Care Connection (PCC) to promote smooth patient flow. Additional responsibilities include assisting with mobility and transfers, delivering specimens and materials between departments, updating patient activity through automated systems, and responding to patient needs to ensure safety. This is a physically active, teamfocused role that contributes directly to highquality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all established departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements while maintaining professionalism in every patient interaction.
  • Maintain and monitor medical therapies during transport-including oxygen, IVs, restraints, catheters, and isolation precautions-and promptly notify nursing staff of any equipment alarms or concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, clinical staff, and Presbyterian Care Connection (PCC) to support safe, timely, and coordinated patient movement.
  • Retrieve, store, and transport oxygen cylinders and essential medical equipment according to hospital policy, ensuring availability and delivering malfunctioning equipment to Maintenance when needed.
  • Perform patient transports for admissions, discharges, procedures, surgeries, and inter-unit transfers using the appropriate mode of transport such as wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, or bariatric equipment.
  • Assist with patient mobility, ambulation, and safe transfers both within the facility and during transitions between units or departments.
  • Use automated bed-tracking systems to update PCC on patient activity and collaborate closely to support efficient patient flow and facility operations.
  • Deliver specimens, x-rays, and other materials between departments and complete basic clerical tasks such as answering phones, printing documents, and handling transport-related paperwork.
  • Provide safety and security monitoring for assigned patients, respond to call lights, and alert nursing staff to changes in patient condition as directed.
  • Participate as an effective team member in a physically demanding role, support organizational upgrades and facility changes, attend required trainings and meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

*HS/GED
*Less than 1 year experience in hospital setting and patient transport.
*BLS Required
*Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
