Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Defense Patrol in Fairfax, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Aero/Defense, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at an aero and defense location, you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with clear communication and strong customer service. This is an armed post requiring an Armed Guard Card or License. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout the facility, including building interiors, parking areas, access roads, perimeter fencing and restricted areas. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor and control access at vehicle and pedestrian entry points, verifying authorization for employees, contractors, visitors, deliveries and/or scheduled activities.
  • Conduct security-related screening as required by site policy, including use of radios, metal detection equipment and/or other approved devices.
  • Maintain situational awareness while assigned to an armed post and follow all applicable laws, post orders and Allied Universal policies regarding use of force, reporting and equipment handling.
  • Perform detailed observation and timely reporting of unusual activity, hazards, suspicious behavior and/or policy violations, escalating concerns through the chain of command.
  • Document patrols, inspections and incidents using written reports and approved electronic systems, including logging key events, inspections and corrective actions.
  • Support emergency response activities by assisting with evacuation, shelter-in-place, lockdown and/or medical response coordination as directed by site leadership and/or public responders.
  • Conduct checks of doors, gates, alarms, cameras and other security-related equipment, reporting malfunctions and/or service needs promptly.
  • Provide directions and assistance to employees, visitors and contractors, maintaining a professional presence and clear communication.
  • Coordinate with site management and/or other personnel on access lists, special events, shift briefings and incident follow-up to help maintain continuity of operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess an Armed Guard Card/License.
  • Handcuffing Certification is preferred.
  • Customer Service Experience is preferred.
  • Pepper Spray Certification is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
