Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Civic Patrol in Washington, DC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to situations with calm, professional communication. You will support access control, report and document activity, and deliver a customer-focused presence aligned with our agile, reliable, innovative culture that puts people first, works as one team, and acts with integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to riders, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Perform armed patrol duties by conducting regular and random patrols of platforms, mezzanines, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter zones to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or damage to property.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, medical events, and/or suspicious activity, and request assistance from local responders when needed.
  • Control access to restricted areas by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials as required, and completing security-related screening and/or bag checks when assigned by post orders.
  • Document security-related activity by completing written and/or electronic reports, preserving observations for follow-up, and communicating conditions, hazards, and/or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of armed security, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton are preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
