Senior Accountant

ICON is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. This role is a critical addition to a lean, high-impact team that currently partners across departments alongside a full corporate accounting workload. The Senior Accountant will take full ownership of prepaids, leases, debt and prepaids and other assets, fixed assets, and inventory accounting, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of reporting as the company scales. This person will serve as a trusted business partner to other departments, helping those cross-functional teams build and refine processes that have downstream accounting impacts. This is an onsite role based in Austin, TX, reporting to the Project Accounting Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Own the end-to-end accounting for fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliation, with a clear understanding of general ledger impacts across the full asset lifecycle.
  • Execute lease accounting under ASC 842, including recognition, measurement, and ongoing amortization of right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
  • Manage prepaid expenses, debt issuance costs, and other deferred items through their full amortization schedules, ensuring accuracy and completeness at each period end.
  • Oversee inventory accounting in a manufacturing environment, ensuring accurate costing, reconciliation, and general ledger alignment across production activity.
  • Execute the full month-end close cycle for all assigned areas, including preparing and self-reviewing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations on schedule.
  • Design and document scalable accounting processes from the ground up across owned areas, with a view toward SOX 404A readiness and long-term operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all accounting treatments and financial reporting for assigned areas comply with U.S. GAAP and support audit readiness.
  • Partner proactively with supply chain, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to identify process gaps that impact accounting and lead the development of improved workflows.
  • Support the annual financial statement audit, including preparation of schedules and direct interaction with external auditors.
  • Participate in special projects and perform ad hoc analyses as needed to support the broader accounting team.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of technical accounting areas.
  • Deep working knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting, including recognition, measurement, and amortization of right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with fixed asset management across the full lifecycle, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and subledger reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute the full month-end close cycle, including posting and self-reviewing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Experience with inventory accounting in a manufacturing or production environment, including costing, reconciliation, and general ledger alignment.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP sufficient to independently determine appropriate accounting treatments and support external audit processes.
  • Proven ability to design and document accounting processes from the ground up in a high-growth or scaling environment.



PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



  • Experience with NetSuite.
  • Mix of Public Accounting and Industry Accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a start-up, pre-IPO, or high-growth company environment.
  • Public accounting background, particularly with manufacturing or technology clients.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and custom reporting.
  • Experience with internally developed software capitalization and leasehold improvement accounting.
  • Familiarity with supply chain or manufacturing operations and the ability to translate operational activity into accurate accounting treatment.
