Job Description




As a Security Officer - Truck Gate in York, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer in a logistics and distribution location, you will focus on access control at key entry points, helping to manage visitor and vehicle check-ins, verify credentials, and support smooth dock and gate operations. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and deliver professional customer service through clear communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, contractors, and drivers by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at entrances, guard shacks, and/or gatehouse posts by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and maintaining sign-in and sign-out documentation.
  • Screen and route deliveries, trailers, and service providers by confirming appointment information, checking shipping documents, and coordinating with on-site contacts for dock and yard access.
  • Monitor CCTV, access control alarms, and door status indicators; report unusual activity that may help to deter unauthorized entry.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility, yards, parking areas, and perimeter to check doors, gates, dock areas, and restricted spaces; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical events, fire alarms, unauthorized access attempts, and disturbances.
  • Support security-related investigations by documenting observations, preserving relevant information, and completing detailed reports and activity logs.
  • Operate and maintain access control tools such as badge systems, key and/or key card logs, visitor management systems, and radio communications per post orders.
  • Direct traffic flow for trucks and passenger vehicles during peak periods, maintaining orderly entry and exit to reduce congestion and support site operations.
  • Communicate clearly with Allied Universal supervision, site contacts, and local responders as needed, escalating issues through the appropriate chain of command.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
