Job Description




As a Security Officer - Student Center Patrol in Philadelphia, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a leading education location, you will conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols, stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and support students, faculty, staff, and visitors with professional customer service. You will communicate clearly, document observations, and respond to concerns with calm teamwork and integrity, backed by a caring culture that is agile, reliable, and innovative.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and/or visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of academic buildings, residence hall exteriors, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter areas, with working environments and conditions varying by location.
  • Help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity by checking doors, gates, and controlled access points, and by observing and reporting unusual conditions.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disturbances, alarms, and/or fire-related notifications, and request additional resources as needed.
  • Monitor and report security-related concerns such as broken locks, lighting outages, propped doors, and/or hazardous conditions to the appropriate parties.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and/or shift activity documentation in accordance with Allied Universal and location requirements.
  • Provide direction and assistance to community members, including answering questions, offering wayfinding support, and coordinating with campus partners during special events.
  • Assist with access control duties such as verifying identification, managing visitor sign-in, and/or issuing temporary access credentials when required by site-specific policy.
  • Operate security-related systems and equipment as assigned, such as radios, access control panels, and/or video monitoring, and report observed concerns.
  • Support traffic and pedestrian flow during peak periods and/or events, and coordinate with location personnel regarding temporary closures, escorts, and/or crowd management needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
