As a Security Officer - Flex Data Center Patrol in Sterling, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a fast-paced tech and media location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, stay visible to help deter security-related incidents, and respond to requests with calm, clear communication. You will document observations and support site teams with a customer-focused approach. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and notify appropriate internal contacts and/or public emergency services as required.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout offices, common areas, parking areas and perimeter routes. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Control access to the facility by verifying identification, checking credentials, managing visitor registration and issuing temporary badges in accordance with site procedures.
  • Monitor alarm panels, access control systems and video surveillance to identify irregular activity, then take appropriate action following post orders.
  • Help to deter unauthorized entry and/or suspicious activity through high-visibility presence, professional engagement and consistent patrol patterns.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, shift activity logs and other documentation with accurate times, actions taken and follow-up notifications.
  • Support a technology-focused workplace by enforcing rules related to restricted areas, confidential workspaces and equipment rooms, and escalating concerns when policies are not being followed.
  • Perform perimeter and interior checks of doors, gates and critical points, reporting maintenance concerns such as broken locks, lighting outages and other issues that could impact site operations.
  • Communicate clearly with site management, employees and other Allied Universal team members to coordinate responses, share observations and maintain continuity across shifts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
