Job Description




As a Security Officer - University Welcome Desk in Los Angeles, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Front Desk Officer at an education location, you will be a welcoming first point of contact while supporting security-related operations. You will greet students, staff, and visitors, manage access and visitor logs, monitor cameras and alarms, respond to requests, and communicate clearly with site leadership and Allied Universal teams. You will bring an agile, reliable, and innovative mindset, putting people first and acting with integrity through teamwork.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an education location.
  • Staff the front desk reception area, greeting visitors, answering calls, providing directions, and helping route questions to the appropriate department.
  • Manage visitor entry processes including verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, maintaining visitor logs, and notifying hosts of arrivals.
  • Monitor access points near the front desk, help to deter unauthorized entry, and report access concerns according to site-specific policies.
  • Monitor security-related systems such as cameras, alarms, and access control panels as assigned, and report irregular activity to the appropriate contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including dispatching notifications and requesting assistance when needed.
  • Document incidents, visitor activity, and unusual conditions in written reports and shift logs using approved formats.
  • Coordinate with campus staff and/or local responders during emergencies, following established communication protocols and post orders.
  • Support lost and found processes, package and delivery handling, and other front desk administrative tasks as assigned, consistent with site-specific policies.
  • Provide a professional, customer-focused presence, assisting with de-escalation and conflict resolution at the front desk when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
