THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry, Scranton State Workers Insurance Fund (SWIF) Managers Office is on the lookout for a Clerical Assistant 3 to round out our staff. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Clerical Assistant 3 functions as the first point of contact for SWIF and provides support for the organization within all SWIF departments and district offices. Through provided cross training, you will have the knowledge to directly respond to external customer inquires regarding work performed by Auditing, Underwriting and Fiscal Technicians, Claim Reviewers and Medical Bill Payers. This position makes decisions in the best interest of SWIF's external customers. You can expect to identify areas of concern in customer service or workflow and recommend potential resolutions and corrective actions to supervisors or managers. It is essential you maintain knowledge of SWIF's operations, workers' compensation insurance, medical terminology, and applicable regulations as set by the Pennsylvania Compensation Rating Bureau and Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must demonstrate the ability to adhere to the values and ethics of the Department of Labor and Industry.
  • You must demonstrate the ability to work with professionalism, discretion, and good work ethic.
  • You must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • You must show initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
