Summary of Job Duties:The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PCT works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School, GED or formal educational equivalent.

  • Health Care Experience. Patient Care Experience. Certified Nursing Assistant or Military Corpsman.

  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.

  • Successful completion of patient care technician course is required within 3 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR Certified/Licensed.

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Helps patients with daily living needs such as comfort measures, grooming, hygiene, and ambulation as delegated by the RN.

  • Takes and documents patient vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, temperature) accurately according to department standards.

  • Assists with patient flow processes like admitting, preparing for transfer, and discharging patients.

  • Maintains ongoing communication with the RN about patient condition changes and report patient requests or complaints.

  • Moves patients to different care areas or exam rooms as directed while ensuring safety.

  • Records all care provided, including activities of daily living, vital signs, and assigned tasks in medical records per policy.

  • Helps patients and visitors with basic information, direction, and support within the Women's Center environment.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
