Job Description Summary:
The George Washington School of Nursing (GW Nursing) drives innovation and improvements in health care worldwide through the education of compassionate nurses, esteemed educators and researchers, entrepreneurial leaders, and influential policy experts.

RNs Beyond the Beltway is a multi-state workforce development initiative designed to expand and strengthen the registered nursing pipeline in rural and underserved communities across the Mid-Atlantic region. Supported by HRSA funding, the program builds academic-practice partnerships that prepare, recruit, and retain nursing students committed to serving in regions facing persistent workforce shortages. The initiative integrates evidence-based educational strategies, rural clinical immersion experiences, preceptor development, and comprehensive student supports to ensure learners are prepared to meet the complex needs of rural populations across the lifespan. Through collaboration with the Campus for Rural Health, Area Health Education Centers (AHECs), and clinical partners across participating states, RNs Beyond the Beltway aims to create a sustainable, community-embedded nursing workforce equipped to advance health equity and improve access to high-quality care.

The Project Manager plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of all project objectives for the RNs Beyond the Beltway program. This position provides statewide coordination across partner states and ensures effective communication and collaboration between academic and clinical partners. The PC supports program operations, manages student recruitment and support activities, oversees follow-up data collection, and helps ensure program quality and consistency across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for program implementation across all RNs Beyond the Beltway participating states.
  • Orient students, faculty, and practice partners to program requirements, expectations, and available resources.
  • Lead student recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and retention activities.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of program delivery across clinical sites.
  • Collaborate with the Evaluator and Project Director to support data collection, employment tracking, follow-up surveys, and preparation of required HRSA grant reports.
  • Work with clinical partners to identify context-specific nursing roles, models of care, and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop educational materials to support program goals and student learning.
  • Oversee all student support systems and activities, including communication, tracking, and coordination.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Campus for Rural Health and Area Health Education Centers to advance rural recruitment and long-term career development strategies.
  • Oversee advertising for preceptors and faculty and manage the uptake of associated incentives.
  • Coordinate orientations and trainings for all new preceptors and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
