Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Clinton Township Contingent Day Shift 7:00 am - 5:30 pm GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of a Cardiologist, performs diagnostic ultrasonic procedures for evaluation as prescribed by a physician. Requires knowledge and use of highly specialized equipment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Explains examination procedure to patient and prepares patients for examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and obtains additional patient information when necessary. Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets equipment, and performs ultrasound scan. Controls ultrasound to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Deciphers normal from abnormal pathology in order to obtain appropriate scan to show abnormality in its entirety. Completes appropriate paper work and database requirements for each test EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Completed requirements as a Cardiac Sonographer from accredited program. Must be eligible to sit for Registered Cardiac Sonographer designation from national accreditation board. Registered Cardiac Sonographer in an established hospital non-invasive cardiac testing unit, preferred. LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Registered Cardiac Sonographer within one year of hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a patient care setting with occasional exposure to unpleasant patient care tasks. Daily interaction with family members and staff. Extensive walking, standing, lifting, pushing, and the like may be necessary. Occasional interaction with disgruntled/unsatisfied patients and families.
