Interstates is seeking an Electrical Estimator II to support the successful delivery of complex electrical construction projects. In this role, you'll transform drawings, specifications, and concepts into accurate, competitive estimates-partnering with clients and internal teams to help win and execute high quality work.

Responsibilities:

The estimating department is responsible for producing project-specific construction estimates based on written and/or oral instructions from our clients. Your role in this process will be as follows:



  • Effectively uses Interstates' estimating systems to complete pricing
  • Reviews and analyzes bid specifications, bid drawings and other bid documents to prepare estimates as well as consults with clients, vendors, and other offer category estimator
  • Co-develops scopes with owners and other project team members
  • Assembles complete estimate of project costs using pricing tools
  • Identifies and utilizes job cost history for production units, direct labor, indirect labor, general expenses to ensure that costs are applied correctly
  • Responsible for communication and collaboration with internal team members concerning the proposal
  • Develops formal project proposals with the assistance of the proposal team, including collaboration with other Interstates team members
  • Assists in defining strategies and value-add ideas as needed for each estimate
  • Maintains and captures all necessary documentation of the bid cycle (i.e.: notes, assumptions, verbal instructions)
  • Assesses risks and mitigates them by offering solutions and clarifies them in proposals and post jobs reviews
  • Assists in estimator review of customer contracts on awarded estimates to ensure contracts cover scope accurately
  • Assists with sales and project negotiations
  • Assembles and transfers the estimate information to the execution team
  • Assists in upgrading and devising new estimating methods and tools


Additional Essential Functions:



  • Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience with the following software: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations; Voltage-drop, Ohm's law, conduit-fill, wire ampacity, de-rating, etc. is a plus
  • Analytical, problem-solving mentality.
  • Team player, self-motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers and subordinates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Able to track and organize project and information.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Possesses sound judgement skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work.


Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience and 2-3-years' estimating industrial electrical projects.

Location:This role will be based out of our Omaha, NE office.

Travel: This role requires some occasional travel to job sites near Omaha area, per business needs and requirements (10%).
