Your Job

John Zink is seeking a Test Technician to join our Tulsa, Oklahoma team. In this role, you will test and evaluate combustion equipment, including process burners, thermal oxidizers, and flares, while working closely with Process and R&D engineers. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, enjoys working outdoors in all conditions, and has mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.


Shift: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm (Mandatory overtime as required; start and end times may flex based on overtime needs)

Our R&D team is comprised of experts from diverse fields, including mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, and more. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to tackle complex challenges and deliver comprehensive solutions. We also understand the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and welcome research collaborations with industry partners, research institutions, and academia.

What You Will Do

  • Fully participate in all safety programs and maintain a strong safety focus.
  • Set up and tear down projects on a daily basis.
  • Test combustion equipment, including process burners, thermal oxidizers, and flares.
  • Collaborate closely with Process and R&D engineers to support testing and troubleshooting.
  • Use computers and HMI systems daily to monitor and document operations.
  • Perform quality control inspections on incoming products at the test center.
  • Conduct routine facility maintenance and preventative inspections.
  • Work effectively in teams while also being a self-starter who can complete tasks independently and efficiently.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work full-time outdoors in all weather conditions, including adverse conditions, while wearing full FR (flame-resistant) coveralls.
  • Climb ladders and stairs safely.
  • Obtain certification and work at heights up to 100' in aerial lifts.
  • Complete a physical assessment and perform confined space entry in test facility furnaces and related equipment.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in a Mechanical/Industrial or Materials related field
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the role

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Pipe fitting and related experience/knowledge.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, testing, or R&D environment.
  • PLC & HMI knowledge.
  • Electrical or instrumentation skills.
