Assistant Quality Manager- Quality Assurance

Overview of the Position:

This role is responsible for leading the quality assurance organization for ACI ensuring each process is compliant with civil aviation regulations, industry standards and customer requirements, with particular focus and commitment to the organization's core values and ensuring we meet our mission of ensuring each flight is safe and cost-effective daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure organization's adherence to a Quality Management System (QMS), acting as a Management Representative for QMS; ensure that the QMS conforms to regulatory, industry and customer requirements.
  • Maintain Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) certificates and privileges. Manage the organization's AS9110 certificate, KPI's and procedures. Ensure organization's adherence to aerospace standards and the repair station's operations specifications list (OPSPEC).
  • Lead internal and layered audits. Lead external (regulatory, supplier, customer and registrars) quality audits.
  • Ensure escalations are acknowledged within one business day with a promise date for the response.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations Departments to design, implement and document procedures for process control and improvement.
  • Serve as primary quality assurance resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, countermeasures, and continuous improvement. Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement activities (e.g. Kaizen, Six Sigma) to improve the performance of the company's product lines through the quality system in support of our customers' and business needs.
  • Manage the employees in the Quality Department, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management (proficiency and productivity). Manage calibration and NDT programs.
  • Manage the quality department's Time In Location (TIL) metrics and take action to resolve constraints daily. Monitor metrics/statistics for ACI operations and inspection teams' effectiveness and work with teammates to make sound decisions using predictive trend data.
  • Manage the repair station's training program and company's calibration program.
  • Work closely with the Quality Control Manager/Chief Inspector to improve external quality and resolve customer escalations
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Requirements:



  • Must have H. S. Diploma or GED.


  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in the Aerospace and/or Quality Field.
  • Prior work experience in final inspection and/or NDT is helpful but not required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Operate fork lift.
  • Work in moderate noise levels.
  • Move (using a hand truck or fork lift) boxes up to several 100lbs. (always get help).
  • Operate motor vehicle or truck when picking up parts from or delivering to a customer.
  • No vision requirements.
